Welcome To

ICT at Haybrook College

Our vision is to equip students with the skills and knowledge to be functional in society and adept at effectively communicating, interpreting basic data and being able to create information digitally so that they can fill the desired skill set of the local labour market (digital sector) as well as meeting the Gatsby benchmarks.

Our offering consists of the Digital Functional Skills as well as the final year of Functional Skills in ICT for our current Year 11 only. We use modern pedagogy in lifting student engagement by dynamic teaching and learning strategies that make learning fun and interesting. This includes using virtual teams to give feedback/marking to students, setting targets and monitoring student progress by using a skills based format and project based learning approach to tasks that are both differentiated and scaffolded for the needs of our learners. There is an opportunity to visit a new data centre in Slough so young people can begin to understand how supercomputers process large data used by apps on millions of peoples’ hand held mobile devices.

The UK is poised to be the digital capital of Europe The digital sector is a major source of employment in the UK, with 1.46 million people working in digital companies and around 45,000 digital jobs advertised at any one time. Digital skills span all industries; almost all jobs in the UK today require employees to have a good level of digital literacy.
