Meet the Members

Alan Brown

Alan spent 20 years with Sara Lee in Slough, in senior HR roles, with responsibility for UK and international matters.

 His last role before retirement in 2004 was as Vice President, Compensation and Benefits based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. He continues to be employed as an independent pension trustee for a corporate defined benefit pension scheme.

 While at Sara Lee Alan was closely involved with the setting up of Activate@SaraLee in the year 2000, and has been associated with the PRU and subsequently Haybrook College since then, serving two separate terms as a Governor.

Steve Elson

Steve Elson is currently the Director of Finance for a small Multi Academy Trust in south west London.

He was previously a Trustee of Haybrook College and before that was the interim Finance Director when the school became an academy.  Steve has also worked in Slough and Wandsworth Education departments and has many years’ experience in education finance.


Helen Huntley - Chair

Helen began her teaching career in 1983 and has had a number of roles, including Special Education Needs Co-ordinator and the Assistant Headteacher.  She moved into a role as Deputy Headteacher at Manor Green School, an all age special school for children with complex needs.  Helen most recent teaching role was as Headteacher at Haybrook College (2008-2018).

Since September 2019, Helen has been working as a SEND consultant in RBWM.  As well as developing a Local Authority Inclusion Mark, she is part of the LA's School Improvement Team and conducts School and MAT SEND reviews.

As well as being a Member for Haybrook College, Helen is also a governor at the Grove Academy and is on the Advisory Board of Beech Lodge School in Maidenhead.
