LEARNING SUPPORT / SPORTS COACH MENTORS
Actual pro rata salary £16,887 (£19,721 Full Time Equivalent)
Term Time plus Inset Days (39 weeks per year)
Full time (37 hours)
As a Learning Support Mentor / Sports Coach Mentor, you will support the learning, achievement and development of pupils to ensure they leave school with the best possible outcomes and play a key role in supporting teachers by mentoring disaffected young people with varying learning needs and challenging behaviour to make positive choices about their future. Additionally, you will provide support for offsite activities, personal development and sports programmes.
Experience of working with young people who have complex social and emotional difficulties, specific learning needs or who may find a mainstream school environment challenging would be advantageous. This may be as a mentor, teaching assistant, youth worker or other support role. You need to be confident and engaging with excellent interpersonal skills, so you can motivate children and colleagues.
It is essential that you have:
- Some experience of working with children/young people in either youth work or a school setting
- Are able to remain calm in difficult and challenging circumstances
- Good numeracy and communication skills (both written and verbal)
